Oh it feels great to be back in the world of blogging. For those that don't remember, I created a blog around this same time last year, that I have since taken down as it was going in a direction that I was not very happy with. I originally intended it to be a sports blog and soon my political opinions got in the way. It got out of hand and this blog will to the best of my abilities not have a discernible political bias.
Anyway, onto the purpose of this post: today marks the beginning of bowl season and no matter how you feel about the current FBS postseason, I'm still going to preview all of the bowl games here today. So without further ado, let's get started. (NOTE: Winners are in ALL CAPS)
New Mexico Bowl: WASHINGTON ST vs. Colorado St
Two teams that have been bowling in a while. Mike Leach and his Air Raid Offense lead Wazzu to the victory. 48-35
Las Vegas Bowl: FRESNO ST vs. Southern Cal
Southern Cal was revitalized under Ed Orgeron, but he's gone now. Derek Carr leads his team to victory over a grumpy USC team. 38-31
Idaho Potato Bowl: Buffalo vs. SAN DIEGO ST
Two teams very good at running the ball downhill. SDSU edges out Buffalo. 34-31
New Orleans Bowl: Tulane vs. LA-LAFAYETTE
In-state rivals, Nick Montana and the Green Wave will not be able to overcome the Ragin' Cajuns. 35-21
St. Petersburg Bowl: Ohio vs. EASTERN CAROLINA
Ruffin McNeil is sure to have his team ready after an embarrassing loss to Marshall. 35-30
Hawaii Bowl: BOISE ST vs. Oregon St
Even without Chris Petersen, this shouldn't be too tough for the Broncos. It will be close, however. 35-31
Little Caesars Bowl: Pittsburgh vs. BOWLING GREEN
Dave Clawson had done wonders for this team. They should be able to manage a subpar Pitt team. 28-24
Poinsettia Bowl: Utah St vs. NORTHERN ILLINOIS
Heisman finalist Jordan Lynch has a shot at history today. With 119 rushing yards, he would become the first player ever to have 2000 passing and rushing yards. I think he gets it and NIU rolls. 48-17
Military Bowl: MARSHALL vs. Maryland
Rakeem Cato is a very talented QB that will keep Maryland's hands full. 35-17
Texas Bowl: Syracuse vs. MINNESOTA
Minnesota has been a very surprising team this year. Syracuse, on the other hand, had a disappointing first year in the ACC. 45-31
Fight Hunger Bowl: Brigham Young vs. WASHINGTON
This will definitely be one of the better bowl games, but Washington just has way too much fire power for BYU to stop. 38-21
Pinstripe Bowl: Rutgers vs. NOTRE DAME
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. One year removed from a National Championship appearance, Notre Dame finds themselves traveling to NY. ND's defense wins it for them. 24-17
Belk Bowl: CINCINNATI vs. North Carolina
UNC started off poorly, and will finish poorly against Cincinnati. Tommy Tuberville's Bearcats will be too much for them. 37-31
Russel Athletic Bowl: Miami (FL) vs. LOUISVILLE
This would be a much better game if Miami's Duke Johnson had not broken his ankle during the season. Teddy Bridgewater leads his team to a victory in what could be Charlie Strong's last game at Louisville. 48-21
Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl: MICHIGAN vs. Kansas State
Watching games from both of these teams, I'm not sure what to make of either one of them. Michigan got really close to beating tOSU, so they should win this one. 34-31
Armed Forces Bowl: Middle Tennessee vs. NAVY
MTSU faced a similar offense to Navy's a couple years ago playing Georgia Tech and did not seem to have much of a problem with it. This year, however, they will have a much tougher time with it. 34-28
Music City Bowl: Ole Miss vs. GEORGIA TECH
I'll do a longer preview the day of this game, since Georgia Tech is my team
Alamo Bowl: Oregon vs. TEXAS
An uninspired Oregon team vs Texas in Mack Brown's last game. Texas wins the upset convincingly. 38-20
Holiday Bowl: ARIZONA ST vs. Texas Tech
Texas Tech started off the year on fire, and then they started playing good teams. ASU wins. 37-21
Advocare Bowl: Arizona vs. BOSTON COLLEGE
Heisman finalist and 2000 yard rusher Andre Williams will go up against explosive runner Kadeem Carey. Should be a great match up here. Close one here. 34-31
Sun Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. UCLA
Beamer Ball isn't gonna cut it here. Brett Hundley wins this for UCLA with his arm. 34-27
Liberty Bowl: RICE vs. Mississippi St
Dan Mullen hasn't been impressive in his time at Mississippi St. A loss in this bowl game could force them to make a much-needed change. 38-33
Chick-fil-A Bowl: Duke vs. TEXAS A&M
Duke is completely overmatched. Johnny Football and the Aggies win handily. 48-17
Gator Bowl: Nebraska vs. GEORGIA
For the sake of Georgia fans, I will also be doing an extended preview for this game.
Heart of Dallas Bowl: Nevada Las Vegas vs. NORTH TEXAS
Two very improved teams going at it. NT wins a close one. 34-31
Capital One Bowl: Wisconsin vs. SOUTH CAROLINA
Jadeveon Clowney continues to underperform, but Connor Shaw and SCAR win it in spite of that. 38-30
Outback Bowl: Iowa vs. LSU
Les Miles finds a way to win this one for his team in spite of the injury to Mettenberger. 31-30
Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma St vs. MISSOURI
This is gonna be a shootout. Mizzou has more fire power. 56-48
Compass Bowl: VANDERBILT vs. Houston
Houston will keep it interesting until the end, but Vandy is just too much for them. 42-35
GoDaddy Bowl: Arkansas St vs. BALL ST
Ball St has been good this year and should handle Arkansas St with an interim HC. 34-28
I will be covering the BCS games most likely around the end of December, some time before they start
